Welcome to
Baltimore...
The
Baltimore Area is a great place to live. We have a thriving
Inner Harbor area with great shopping, food and entertainment. The
region borders the Chesapeake Bay, and is a boater's paradise. Horse
racing is very big in the area, and every May, people crowd the infield
at Pimlico to watch the Preakness. At the end of the summer, the Maryland
State Fair in Timonium gives people an opportunity to enjoy a midwest-style
carnival atmosphere (Plus in 2002, Doug's mom won best overall baker
out of all categories!).
Maryland
has been called "Little America," because something of almost
everything can be found here. Maryland runs from the Atlantic Ocean
into the Appalachian Mountains. The main resort town is Ocean City,
which for three months in the summer becomes the second largest city
in the state of Maryland. A popular resort in the mountains of Western
Maryland is Deep Creek Lake. In Maryland you can enjoy the active
city lifestyle in Baltimore and in some suburbs of Baltimore and Washington,
D.C., or you can venture out and enjoy the Maryland countryside.
Maryland
cuisine often centers
around seafood, which Maryland is famous for, especially the Chesapeake
Bay Blue Crab, which is best served with Old Bay seasoning. In many
parts of the state, you can also find fantastic country-style cooking.
